I hope that if you spark the nerve
to speak your meaningful words
that you are shaking voice to toes
on a stage in front poets.

When I am quiet, there is a lot going on! I’m cranking out poems and artwork for my upcoming book, and I’m excited how close I am to finishing. At the same time, I’ve been submitting some work for publication (which is why you haven’t seen a lot of new work posted here) and have been working to update the site and shop. I’ve been practicing my performance a lot more, too, and I’m planning to get up on more stages soon. I’m building up more nerve (hence the poem above).
Honestly, if you are going to fall flat on your face, poets are the best bystanders because they will not let you fall all the way down. Poetry readings are a special place and, if you have not been to one recently, I encourage you to sit in and listen. I try to make it to the Ohio Poetry Association‘s monthly virtual open mic, although I have only read once. I participated in a couple other online readings over the past year and did so-so at a live event a couple months ago. My schedule is tough, but more live events are starting to pop up around me.
I have a new “POETRY” design going live in the shop in the next few weeks. I’m donating a shirt with this new design and some other merch to the 2023 Poetry Super Highway contest (all prizes here). I’ll be sure to announce when they are ready for sale!
I hope your summers are full of happy adventures and that you are working toward your goals as you can.
Oh, I also uploaded the following new poetry graphics:
